Beautiful writing that transported this reader … thank you to Sharron for the introduction.

Glad this story appeared from nowhere, Tom.

Wonderful story, Tom. So authentic and layered. The time period and all the angst and uncertainty that came with it, shone through in your writing. I would love to see more literary fiction like this on Substack.

Sharron Bassano sent me. She has never steered me wrong.

Possibly the best story you've ever written, Tom. I was totally immersed in and charmed by it. "... 20 pairs, swaying and stepping in time with the music, each pair a galaxy, spinning independently of the others, yet locked in orbit, tied within the gravity of the circle."..."a moment of tension, held — only for a moment but within that moment, a lifetime, locked in a tight embrace..." This is such artful stuff! Thanks so much for trusting your readers to know the year, to understand the unease and stress in that city, and to deal with the German language without explanation. You are a breath of fresh air.

I just reread #41. Such a raw authentic description. You put your readers right inside his head and gave us a real understanding of how lonely and torturous alcoholism is. Those of us addicted to food ( or to anything, I imagine) go through all the same rationales, the same inner dialogues.
